The Ambassador of Ghana to the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Prof. Ohene Adjei, paid working visit to Hamburg from 30th May to 1st June, 2026. He was accompanied by Mr. Fred Frimpong, the Head of the Consular Section at the Embassy of Ghana in Berlin.
Meeting with the Ghanaian Community
During his visit, the Ambassador held a townhall meeting with the Ghanaian community in Hamburg on 30th May, 2026. During his remarks at the meeting, he acknowledged the vital role that the diaspora community plays in shaping not only their communities abroad but the prosperity of Ghana. He further commended their contributions towards the development of Ghana.
The Ambassador also urged the Ghanaian community to include the younger generation, especially Ghanaians born in Germany, in the activities of the community to enable them greater knowledge about their roots and culture as Ghanaians.
His Excellency Prof. Ohene Adjei seized the opportunity to educate the community about the presence of the Consulate-General of Ghana in Hamburg. He highlighted the role of the Consulate in the provision of consular services as well as the ensuring the welfare of Ghanaians in Hamburg and its environs.
Meeting with the CEO of the Port of Hamburg
His Excellency the Ambassador held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Port of Hamburg Marketing, H.E. Hendrik Meyn. Present at the meeting were Senior Officials from the Ministry for Economics, Labour and Innovation of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The Ambassador and his delegation had a boat tour where they had firsthand view of the Port of Hamburg, one of the most important seaports in Europe and a central hub for global trade.
Meeting with the State Councillor
His Excellency Prof. Ohene Adjei also met with Ms. Liv Assmann, the State Councillor to the Federal Government, the European Union and Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, H.E. the Ambassador, reiterated the desire to deepen the longstanding relations between Ghana and Germany, especially Hamburg. He highlighted the need for the establishment of a sister city partnership with focus on health, labour mobility, cultural and educational exchanges especially in areas such as vocational and technical education.
